This might be a big question to ask, but what is something that goes on easily with a long dry time that dries hard and doesn't shrink? It also has to not react to foam poorly. I'm looking to reinforce the sword but not add too much weight onto it. *shrug*

I am not happy with how the sword is turning out. So I am starting over. I should work better. But we will see over time. ^.^

Otaku Guns I am now happy with the way I redid the sword. It looks much better for now. I need to get a box cutter to cut the edge of the blade.

Jei Cos Quite the difference then what I thought you meant before, but wow. This is coming along VERY nicely. I like it a lot so far

Otaku Guns I'm excited that it is turning out so well. Definitely didn't think I would be able to make it look as good as it does so far. It's going to look a little better when I get done and cover it will something like papier mache.

Jei Cos Yea, well it's great so far so..lol Just remember, after the machete, sand it..lol I can't tell you how many people don't sand it, and it ends up being able to be seen, and looks way worse then it could if they took the 30minutes to just sand it lol

Otaku Guns Thanks for the advice. I will have to remember to do so.

Jei Cos Oh also, you will end up noticing, the hollow parts are going to dent in and maybe even cave it. I suggest filling the entire thing with spray expanding foam too. Put the whole thing together and glue the other side on the same way you have the one side a...  more

Droxelai -- It's not that tough. If you're going to layer the blade in paper mache for impact durability let me know how that goes. I've used polystyrene and it makes the swords too heavy to wield with one hand.

Jei Cos Droxelai is right, it's pretty easy. BUT, If they mean the insulation foam (which is what that's called), then no they are wrong. They much have added something to it to make it that heavy. I used that on mine (you can see it in my cloud album) and it wei...  more

Otaku Guns I'm using foamcore board for the main body of the blade. I haven't decided on the rest of the materials I am going to use. I was thinking of using Great Stuff to strengthen the sword. I have a broom handle I was going to use for a spear that I am going to...  more
